The Challenge
Emma Dooley approached The Bumblebee in September 2025 with a plea for help, striving to raise funds for the Cancer Council via Barry the Brave’s journey in the Spring Shitbox Rally – a journey from Alice Springs to the Gold Coast: “I’m trying my absolute hardest to cut through the noise on my own, but I feel like I’m just not breaking through the way I need to. With only about a month left, I need to find a way to get eyes on this campaign and drive real traction.”

what we did
Emma had been hustling, hard, and had amassed nearly $30K worth of in-kind raffle prizes and donations from the community – but she wasn’t sure of the most effective way to translate these into cold hard cash for the Cancer Council. Together, we strategised a campaign involving two major events, community and media engagement, content creation, paid advertising via Meta Ads and more. The Bumblebee supported Emma with strategy and execution from the day of engagement through to the finish line of the Shitbox Rally at the end of October.
The Buzz
When The Bumblebee was engaged, Emma had raised almost $30K for the Cancer Council. Together, we set a strategic target to raise $66K in honour of the 66 years lived by Emma’s Aunty Pauline (the driving force behind Barry the Brave) before she sadly lost her battle with cancer. This target was achieved on 30 October – two days before the deadline. Barry’s social media saw an increase of 40K. A targeted Meta Ads campaign driving raffle ticket sales for Barry’s luxe Tassie accommodation raffle generated $9.6K in sales (purchase ROAS $10.18).
Your understanding of what needed to happen and just making it happen. Your determination to get what we needed. You pour your whole soul into anything you touch. It was honestly a pleasure and I will be screaming your name from the roof tops."– Emma Dooley, Barry the Brave
